Junaid Jamshed's sons join Salman Ahmed for a tribute to the music icon

If there was a performance at Hum Awards 2017 that stayed with us after the night was over, it was the moving tribute to the late music icon Junaid Jamshed.

Junaid Jamshed's sons Taimur and Babar joined Salman Ahmed — who was not only once JJ's band member in Vital Signs but also his long-time friend — in remembering JJ's musical side with a medley of Pakistan's patriotic hits.

Salman Ahmed started off the performance with Junoon's 'Azadi' and 'Jazba-e-Junoon', but rounded off the medley with Vital Signs' 'Dil Dil Pakistan'. Watch it here:

JJ's eldest son Taimur prefaced the performance with a brief speech, in which he spoke about his father's love for Pakistan.

He said, "My father loved Pakistan... Until now, I had no idea that he was loved by so many people. The stories I heard about the people he helped to the ones he inspired, I've never been so overwhelmed."

He went on to express commiseration with the families of the other people who lost their lives on the ill-fated flight from Chitral on December 7, 2016, "Anyone who lost someone in that flight, we are in this together... I hope and pray we can come out of this together. Please know that you are not alone."

The performance was an emotional experience for JJ and Vital Signs fans:
