Adil Ray recieves OBE from Prince William at Buckingham Palace
The creator of BBC sitcom Citizen Khan Adil Ray has received the coveted OBE (Order of the British Empire) as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
He received the award from the Duke of Cambridge during a Buckingham Palace investiture ceremony, where a two-minute silence was observed to mark Armistice Day.
The comic, who plays the hapless and much-loved Pakistani Brummie Mr Khan in his hit show, dedicated his award to his parents on Twitter.
Talking to Asian image, Adil shared: "I started as a DJ playing music on the radio and ended up doing journalism on the radio and documentary film making and now I've got a sitcom on the telly."
