Every bride wanted to look like I did in Om Shanti Om, says Deepika Padukone

Deepika hasn't just become a big deal, she was always a big deal; ever since her Bollywood debut Om Shanti Om.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Deeps revealed how her debut film had a huge impact on women, with them asking for the same winged eyeliner look as hers in the film.

"I remember in my very first movie, my debut film called Om Shanti Om, I had this very specific winged liner, and I remember during bridal season a lot of make up artists came up to me and said the winged liner has become so popular, every bride brings a reference of that movie and every bride wants to look like that," she says.

But she didn't always love her style and looks. Just like us, when she looks back at her old photos, she feels mortified.

She adds, "You kind of feel like 'oh my God you look so good', and then 10 years later you look at a picture and you're like 'what was I thinking?', I thought I was with it. I thought I was wearing the coolest thing ever, I thought I looked amazing. Later I'm like, 'did I really look like that?'."

We find that really hard to believe. Deepika has always been beautiful.

Style, in the B-Town actor's view, is personal, however, 'fashion is what is dictated to you and for me it's always important for your clothes to be an extension of your personality.'

"You have to feel complete. I think you need to feel like you're wearing the clothes and the clothes aren't wearing you. Whether it's a red carpet event or whether I'm sitting at home, I just want to feel comfortable in whatever I wear," says Deepika.

"My most favourite garment is the sari, if I had a choice between a gown and a sari, I'd wear a sari," adds the Bollywood actor.

Deepika is currently working on her Hollywood debut xXx: Return of Xanger Cage alongside Vin Diesel. The film is set to hit theatres 20th Jan 2017.
