Rahat Fateh Ali Khan just sang with an Indian transgender band

Here's a collaboration that we're proud of: Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has lent his star power to the latest song from 6 Pack Band, the first trans musical group from India.

The band, which is made up of six transgender singers, became an internet sensation when their rendition of Pharrel William's 'Happy', became viral. Now, the band is set to release their sixth music video, which will also feature Sultan superstars Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma.

The band is fostered by Y-Films, the youth wing of Yash Raj Films. According to Indian Express, Y-Films created the band in 2015 as an initiative to further cause gender equality in the country.

“For the last song we have an epic campaign,” shares Ashish Patil, Vice President Y-Films, Brand Partnerships & Talent Management. "It’s going to be the biggest one. We have collaborated with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, he has sung with the band. The video also has shorts of Salman (Khan) and Anushka (Sharma)."

“Towards the end, Anushka will talk about acceptance, love and why disrespect anyone. It is not just about transgender but all those who have been neglected,” he added.

Previously, Sonu Nigam and Zanai (Asha Bhosale's granddaughter) have collaborated with the band, while Hrithik Roshan has performed on one of their tracks.

The video for their new song with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will release tomorrow.
