Just in: Priyanka Chopra becomes first South Asian actress to win People's Choice Award

After 2015 ended on a brilliant note for Priyanka Chopra with Bajirao Mastani, it seems that 2016 will be promising as well. Chopra just became the first ever South Asian actress to win a People's Choice Award today.

The Indian star, who was signed for a lead role in American series Quantico won the award for 'Favourite Actress in a New TV Series'.

Chopra was up against Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Marcia Gay Harden and Lea Michelle, and won the award for playing the role of an FBI agent-turned-suspected terrorist, Alex Parrish.

Right after winning the award, Piggy Chops took to Twitter to thank all those who voted for her:

Earlier, she chomped down on a burger as she prepped for the red carpet:

Quantico was also nominated for 'Favourite New Drama' category but lost to Supergirl.

People's Choice Awards is the only major award show voted on entirely by the public for fan favourites in the entertainment industry, from music and television to movies.
