Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s daughter, Mahnoor Safdar tied the knot with Azan Jabbar, son of industrialist Jabbar Khalid, on Saturday.

The nikkah ceremony was held at the Sharif family’s Jati Umrah estate, with only members of the Sharif and Khalid families and a few close friends and relatives in attendance, a family source told Images.

The groom’s father, Jabbar Khalid, is closely associated with the flour-milling industry.

The grandfather of the bride, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, recently returned from a trip to Singapore, deferring his scheduled travel to London in order to attend the event, the source said.

The wedding comes shortly after CM Maryam travelled to London to attend Mahnoor’s graduation ceremony. She returned to Lahore on Wednesday after attending the event.

Mahnoor has largely remained out of the public eye.

The Sharif family have not announced any details of a formal reception or any other wedding festivities.

Mahnoor’s brother, Junaid Safdar, wed Shanzeh Ali Rohale — the granddaughter of former legislator Shaikh Rohale Asghar — in January, amid much pomp and circumstance.

The days-long festivities for Junaid’s second marriage included a green-themed mehndi, a sunlit baraat and an outdoor valima at the Sharif family’s Jati Umrah estate.
