A video went viral on Tuesday which appeared to show actor Meera engaging in a physical altercation with a member of her household staff. The grainy CCTV footage was from an incident that occurred in June, police have said.

A spokesperson for the Deputy Inspector General (Operations) in Lahore said the matter was from a couple of months ago and was fully investigated by the police at the time, with both Meera and the domestic worker — Yasmeen — summoned for questioning.

The spokesperson said the woman had told the police that the matter had been resolved and that she neither wanted to file a complaint, nor initiate any kind of legal action against the actor.

The spokesperson said Yasmeen’s written and video statements had been made part of the record.

Meera had filed a complaint against the woman for theft, claiming items including a bag and clothes had been taken. Police said the actor withdrew her complaint after the items were returned.

The police enquiry confirmed Meera and Yasmeen had resolved the matter amongst themselves and Yasmeen said she did not wish to take any further action against Meera.

After footage of the incident began circulating online, a video of a woman surfaced with visible scars on her face. The woman asked for her attacker to be put in prison but did not name Meera.

A third video emerged later, featuring a woman in a police station who introduced herself as Yasmeen and said she was employed by Meera. The woman said nothing had happened between them and she was happily working for the actor.

She claimed the other video was fake and made using AI. “Nothing like this happened between the two of us. There was no fight,” the she said in the video, adding that she still worked at Meera’s house.
