Sheheryar Munawar shared a teaser of his upcoming drama Dar-e-Nijaat (Door of Liberation) on his Instagram account on Saturday and it’s left us with some questions.

The project from ARY Digital stars Nameer Khan and Durefishan Saleem alongside Munawar and was written by Umera Ahmed.

In the teaser, Saleem and Khan are shown together in the US — possibly in love — while Munawar’s character appears to be an upper-middle class Pakistani man who is dedicated to his faith.

Khan appears to be in contrast to this with his lifestyle, with Saleem leaning both ways in different scenes. There are references to the Holy Quran and Islamic teachings in the teaser, hinting at religion being a prominent part of the narrative.

A montage of scenes, with one showing Saleem slapping Khan and another showing a character shattering a glass on the floor, shows there’s likely a good deal of tension in the drama, although details of the plot remain under wraps for now.

Aside from details on the story, we also don’t have a release date, with the teaser saying the show is “coming soon”.

What we do know is that the channel describes it as “a powerful tale of destiny, heartbreak, and redemption.”

We also know, from previous posts made by Munawar, that Sahar Hashmi, Romaisa Khan, Sania Saeed and Saba Hameed are part of the show’s star cast.

Dar-e-Nijaat is directed by Saqib Khan and is the first drama serial from 3’s Entertainment, a production led by Munawar and Sonya Khan.
