The internet got a shock over the weekend as clips of what appeared to be rap superstar Talha Anjum’s engagement ceremony began to surface. The speculation can finally be put to rest as Anjum himself confirmed he and London-based skin-fluencer Zoiea Karim ‘exchanged rings’.

The rapper posted a story on Instagram with Karim’s post, showing the two of them at the event. The event was attended by “close family and friends” and was supposed to be “lowkey and private to avoid any unnecessary media buzz,” Anjum wrote.

Saying everything was “beautiful”, the rapper said he’d like to take this time to thank everyone who wished the couple well. He closed the message, saying, “To a new chapter with Zoi.”

In case you missed the buzz Anjum was evidently trying to avoid, posts of him dancing, singing and placing a ring on Karim’s finger went viral last week, leading everyone to speculate about the star’s status.

Many posts from the intimate gathering carried captions saying he was either engaged or married, further confusing everyone trying to figure out what exactly was going on.

There was also some scepticism as the rapper didn’t confirm anything immediately and we all remember Hasan Raheem’s fake wedding — the one before his very real wedding last summer.

Now that we have confirmation though, all we can say is best wishes to the happy couple. If anyone needs us, we’ll be bringing out our celebratory confetti now.
