Jal frontman Goher Mumtaz has dropped a breezy new track, ‘Har Saal’, featuring Aima Baig, marking his first-ever standalone collaboration with the singer.

Written and composed by Mumtaz, the song was released on Monday with an accompanying music video. The song also brings Mumtaz’s band Jal into the mix, making it a three-way collaboration. Announcing the release on Instagram, Mumtaz kept it simple, writing: “Aima Baig x Goher Mumtaz x JAL.”

The music video, produced by Goher Mumtaz Productions, leaned into intimacy and ease rather than spectacle. It opens with Mumtaz experimenting with a tune on the keyboard before abandoning it in mild frustration and switching to the guitar, clearly more his comfort zone. That shift becomes the cue for Baig to join in, mid-orange juice pour, signalling her approval by slipping effortlessly into the melody. What follows is a series of warm, unguarded moments: the two singing, jamming, and playing off each other like lovebirds, carried by a catchy, pop-forward tune that never tries too hard.

Two weeks prior to the release, the duo teased ‘Har Saal’ with a short trailer that set the mood early on. “Some stories are told in harmony,” the intro of the trailer read, a line that neatly summed up the song’s soft, romantic energy.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard Baig and Mumtaz sing together. In Mumtaz’s 2024 film Abhi, in which he starred opposite Kubra Khan, featured a rich soundtrack with contributions from Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Tanya Wells, Baig, Nish Asher, and Mumtaz himself. Multi-instrumentalists Leo Twins also played a role in shaping the film’s music. Baig and Mumtaz sang the song ‘Saathiya’ together.

Speaking to Images at the time, Mumtaz had noted, “All the songs picturised on Kubra have been sung by Aima.” With ‘Har Saal’, that creative overlap extended beyond the screen, settling into a collaboration that feels harmoniously in sync.
