Actors Khaqan Shahnawaz and Sabeena Syed surprised the internet on Friday by sharing their first pictures together as husband and wife.

The couple posted pictures from what appears to be their outdoor nikkah, with friends, family, balloons and a tastefully selected vintage car to seal the deal.

The party mostly wore what appeared to be shades of beige and off-white, with Shahnawaz pairing his sherwani with a glittery, embroidered cape and a white shawl. Since the photographer tagged Ali Xeeshan in the caption, we can only assume the cape was courtesy of the designer — it’s his signature look, after all.

Syed matched with her groom, wearing a seemingly similarly coloured frilled gharara. She added a splash of colour with her dupatta though, which featured pastel leaf designs designs and a gold and shocking pink border.

She seemed to have changed her jewellery between the actual event and the photo session. For the photoshoot, she can be seen wearing a silver necklace with pink stones, as well as a traditional pearl choker with a black jewel in the centre. The necklaces were paired with silver earrings with turquoise inlays and a silver teeka.

The second jewellery set, seen in a video posted by content creator Taimoor Akbar, comprised of a long necklace paired with a choker and matching earrings. She carried a small, fittingly shiny purse and the gajras to tie it all together.

The groomsmen — Shahnawaz’s siblings and friends — seemed on board with the theme, wearing sherwanis and prince coats adorned similarly to the groom’s own. His father, choosing to stand out, was seen in a floral green shawl.

The couple had been the talk of the town for some time now, having announced their engagement with a cutesy, farm-core photoshoot in early December. The pictures, which had them frolicking in a field, were reminiscent of the romantic movies of yore.

Shahnawaz also posted behind the scenes photos of the wedding preparations earlier this week, with a number of celebrities joining in for the fun.

A number of the couple’s celebrity friends congratulated them in the comment section of the post.
