We finally have a teaser and release date for Bilal Ashraf and Maya Ali’s upcoming action film Khan Tumhara. The film will be releasing this May, on Eidul Azha.

A very intense teaser was released on Wednesday, mainly featuring Ashraf as a rugged action star. We also got a short glimpse of Ali shooting a rifle, so perhaps she’s more than just a love interest in the film.

Khan Tumharahas been directed by Ehteshamuddin and produced by Ashraf, Ehteshamuddin and Momina Duraid. The screenplay has been written by Mustafa Afridi.

Revolving around Yusuf Khan, played by Ashraf, the teaser begins in an icy terrain, with a narrator speaking of a perilous path full of struggles and oppression. “The pharaohs of our time wear but a single face, a face I am sworn to recognise. I will find them and I will rise up. And I will talk the sacred line decreed by God. My name is Yusuf Khan, this is my story.”

This dramatic teaser features flashes of guns, violence and mayhem, giving us a glimpse into the action-packed film in store for us. Khan Tumhara promises a fusion of “action, romance, and raw emotion like never before”.

Variety reported that the production employed multiple international crew members for its action sequences, with Nick Khan of Eternals and Hussain Abdullah of Skyfall leading the team. The crew traveled to Pakistan to shoot the action sequences and train local crew members for several months, after which it took around 70 days to shoot the action scenes alone.

The publication reported that Ashraf performed his own stunts, without body doubles, sustaining multiple injuries during filming.

“For years, Pakistani cinema has flirted with action but we have never truly let it bleed,” Ehteshamuddin told the publication. “Khan Tumhara is our answer to that hesitation. Yusuf Khan is not a hero you cheer for from a safe distance; he is the man who drags you into the dust with him where love is a wound; power is a poison; and vengeance is the only prayer left. This is our story, told with our sweat; our scars; our stubborn refusal to look away.”

“This was more than a film; it was a lifetime education in the craft, paid for with blood, sweat and tears,“ Ashraf said. “It has become the benchmark against which I’ll measure every project I ever do from hereon. This journey is dedicated to my late mother and sister, and I am forever thankful to everyone who has been part of this project.”
