Superman soars past $300m at US box office, becoming first DC film to do so since The Batman

David Corenswet’s Kal-El flies high as DC Studios gets a long-awaited box office win.

DC Studios and Warner Bros’ Superman has officially crossed the $300 million mark at the US-Canada box office, becoming the first DC movie to do so since 2022’s The Batman, reported Deadline.

The milestone was reached on Thursday, just 21 days after the film’s theatrical release, making it the ninth DC title in history to pull off the feat.

The new take on Superman, led by David Corenswet in the titular role, has now outpaced Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel ($291million) and the star-packed Justice League ($229 million), both of which featured Henry Cavill’s Kal-El.

While Superman is currently tracking just 4 per cent behind The Batman at the same stage, it’s ahead of 2017’s Wonder Woman by 2pc, signalling strong word-of-mouth and sustained public interest despite a competitive summer slate.

The film joins an elite group of DC hits that have crossed the $300 million threshold domestically, including The Dark Knight ($534.9 million), The Dark Knight Rises ($448.1 million), Wonder Woman ($412.8 million), Joker ($335.4 million), Aquaman ($335.1 million), Batman v Superman ($330.3 million) and Suicide Squad ($325.1 million).

The film’s performance is a significant boost for DC Studios, especially as the franchise navigates a long-awaited reset under James Gunn and Peter Safran. With solid legs at the box office and a warmer reception than some of its recent predecessors, Superman seems to be restoring faith in the DC brand — at least at the domestic box office.

As Superman continues to fly high, all eyes are now on how far it can soar before its theatrical run concludes.

@Sadaf If that is true, then why are so many Arabs including Palestinians hellbent on working for the same Hollywood? And why are so many Arabs getting their own shows, significant and big roles in Hollywood? Why are so many Hollywood people condemning Israel and openly supportive of Palestine?

Congratulations to Gunn and DC. It's a must win achievement for DC after all the chaos of DCEU.
