Superstars Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed are reuniting on the big screen this Eidul Azha with Love Guru, a film that promises a mix of comedy, romance, mischief, and heartbreak.

The trailer, released ahead of the film’s June 6 release, hints at a classic feel-good entertainer with emotional depth and a modern edge.

Directed by Nadeem Baig and written by Vasay Chaudhary — whose wit and humour shone in hits like Jawani Phir Nahi AaniLove Guru boasts a star-studded ensemble, including Sohai Ali Abro, Mira Sethi, Momina Iqbal, Javed Sheikh, and Ramsha Khan, among others. Salman Iqbal has executive produced the film, with Saeed, Shahzad Naseeb, and Jerjees Seja serving as co-producers.

The trailer opens with Saeed’s character, a self-proclaimed “love guru”, driving a visibly nervous bride (played by Sohai Ali Abro) who is running away with her lover. “I too would be anxious if I had to run away with a guy like this,” he quips. When asked if he’s single, he replies dryly, “A little too single, but that wasn’t always the case.”

From there, we’re swept into a montage of Saeed’s many romantic escapades, with multiple women calling him different names like Bilawal, Nawaz, and Imran (we’re thinking what you’re thinking), each professing their love for him. “My love isn’t for one woman,” he declares. “I want to save all the women of the world with my love.”

But things take a turn when the story shifts to London, where Mahira’s Sophia Khan, an architect, is introduced. Sheikh plays her father, who isn’t thrilled about his daughter marrying the man of her choice. Saeed is roped in to interfere, reluctantly so. “This is against my principles,” he says, though it doesn’t stop him from slowly growing fond of Sophia. He follows her, bumps into her, and shares long drives and conversations about love.

Saeed’s playful nature seems to melt away in the presence of Sophia, as the two grow closer. When he asks her if her marriage is a love marriage, she simply replies, “No, completely arranged.” Sophia’s friend, played by Ramsha, suspects something fishy between the two. “Are you mad?” Sophia responds. “I’m getting married in eight days.”

What follows is a sequence of dreamy visuals, Saeed dancing at one of Sophia’s pre-wedding events, surprising her with a hot air balloon ride through the clouds, and the two sharing intimate, tender moments on a boat, and amidst wedding festivities.

The cinematography shines, capturing everything from sun-drenched London streets to lush green escapes. Mahira stuns in a series of elegant saris, while Saeed appears visibly transformed, emotionally vulnerable, and even jealous, as he realises he may have finally met someone he truly cares for.

A haunting heartbreak song kicks in as tensions rise. “I wish I had met you earlier,” Saeed tells Mahira. She says, “Some things are better left unsaid.” The trailer hints at complications and emotional conflict, culminating in a tense scene where Sheikh’s character asks Saeed if he’s changed his mind. “No,” he replies, “I’ve had a change of heart.”

The trailer ends with rapid flashes of drama, confrontation, longing stares, and a final gut-punch from Mahira, who closes the trailer with Muneer Niazi’s poetic verse: “Hamesha der kardeta hoon main [I’m always late].”

With the crackling chemistry between Mahira and Saeed, a seasoned supporting cast, and a storyline that blends romance and comedy with poignant drama, we’re adding Love Guru to our must-watch list.

Sometimes a trailer does not truly represent the actual show.

Seems like another copy from Bollywood and Hollywood. Sadly, these actors agree to act in such movies only for money.

50+ misogynist playing romantic lead hero opposite younger women sometimes half his age, refusing to let young struggling talent come forward. I wish actresses with self-respect would refuse to work with him. But I guess the lure of money is stronger for these actresses even though they already are wealthy and established.

Seems like a hackneyed copy of Hitch and a lot of B grade Bollywood movies and I couldn’t agree more with Ghulam who has commented here that both are not suitable for the lead anymore - they are old. I’m not an ageist but they don’t suit the part. Casting should be done based on character requirement not popularity

Sorry but this looks like a C grade copy of an Indian movie with bad acting, screenplay, direction and music. If this is the best Pakistani film industry has to offer, you won't be able to compete with Indian content even in your own country, let alone globally.
