A guide to finding great tiramisu in Karachi

Layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers surrounded by mascarpone cream — what dreams are made of for a caffeine addict.
Updated 03 May, 2025

With Karachi slowly becoming a hub for coffee shops — you need only enter Bukhari Commercial to see a long chain of coffee shops bafflingly located next to each other — is it any wonder that a coffee lover’s mind will soon turn to their favourite dessert: tiramisu.

We’ve all heard of this Italian no-bake dessert. Picture this: layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers topped by a lightly sweetened whipped cream and mascarpone mixture, which is exactly what dreams are made of, especially for a caffeine addict.

This dessert has been making rounds on social media lately and — judging by my Instagram for you page — it is definitely not underrated.

So as someone who runs on caffeine and has gone to great lengths to try the best tiramisu she can — including walking around in a daze at the Dubai Mall for ages in search of a spot one influencer said had the best tiramisu — I had to review the best tiramisus in Karachi.

Tiramisu — the Italian dessert co.

9.5/10

Price: Rs800

This online shop became an office favourite real quick. My coworkers only needed to try a single bite before becoming hooked. This tiramisu is light, creamy, and perfectly balanced — as all things should be.

The ladyfingers layered with airy light mascarpone cream proved to be one of the most delectable tiramisus I’ve had in a while. I could have had about 10 helpings of this.

One colleague of mine approved the taste, saying it was “less dense than the men in the office”. A glowing recommendation!

Its economical price tag compared to others in the market earned it the top spot on my list.

Black Honey

8.5/10

Price Rs800

I was pleasantly surprised to see that coffee shop Black Honey served actual tiramisu and not just a tiramisu latte. Shockingly, this had escaped my notice all this time.

Their tiramisu, with just the amount of espresso and cocoa powder, almost made me forget about the calories I was about to consume from just one slice.

Compared to others on this list, this tiramisu was definitely more dense, however, the familiar coffee taste along with fresh cream were definitely there.

Luna Bakers

8.5/10

Rs1,200

Not to be confused with Luna the coffee place (which seems to always be out of tiramisu for me to try), this is an online bakery named Luna. For Rs1,200, this tiramisu could have easily been divided between two to three people, despite being advertised as serving one to two.

This was so good and, in my opinion, the quantity matched the price, considering I was full after eating just half.

Aylanto

9/10

Price: Rs1,285

I was not expecting myself to down this slice of tiramisu from Aylanto as fast as I did, but down it I did.

This was possibly the most authentic mascarpone cream cheese I could find, well whipped and smooth with its blend of cocoa powder and espresso. It’s rich, cold creamy goodness earned it a top spot on my list.

Pink Frost

8.5/10

Rs2,350

Pink Frost has been a personal favourite of mine because they have repeatedly excelled at experimenting with new flavours (and getting them right) when it comes to cakes.

Their tiramisu cake, which a friend of mine was kind enough to get on my birthday, offered a new take on the dessert and left me wanting more. I almost gobbled down the whole cake by myself while my friends stared at me, patiently waiting for a piece to come their way.

I’d highly recommend this bakery if you’re a huge tiramisu fan. You should definitely get this for yourself if you enjoy coffee as much as I do.

Layered in Love

8.5/10

Price: 1,500 for two cups

This online tiramisu page definitely satisfied my cravings for the dessert. This was definitely on the sweeter side, with light, airy cream layered between ladyfingers. It had all the makings of a classic tiramisu.

Cold and creamy, this was a good mixture of mascarpone cream and ladyfingers soaked in coffee.

The nation is already finding it difficult to make two ends meat and these local products are trying to compete (say beat) their foreign counterparts!

Tiramisu is a beloved Italian dessert that likely originated in the Veneto region, particularly in Treviso, during the late 20th century. The most widely accepted story credits its creation to the restaurant Le Beccherie in the 1960s or 1970s, where chef Roberto Linguanotto crafted the dish using layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone cheese, eggs, sugar, and cocoa powder. The name "tiramisu" translates to "pick me up," highlighting its energizing ingredients. Over the years, tiramisu has inspired regional variations and gained international fame, becoming a staple in Italian restaurants worldwide. Today, it is celebrated as a quintessential Italian dessert, symbolizing Italian hospitality and culinary tradition, and is often enjoyed at special occasions. As the Italians say "Tiramisù, non ti scordar di me," which translates to "Tiramisu, don’t forget me." This phrase reflects the dessert's delightful and memorable nature, suggesting that once you taste tiramisu, it leaves a lasting impression and is hard to forget. Buon appetito!
