Emmad Irfani says working on Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum was the ‘best experience’ of his career
Actor Emmad Irfani said working on the hit television show Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum was the best experience of his career.
During an appearance on Waseem Badami’s ARY show Har Lamha Purjosh, Irfani was asked whether he faced double standards by fellow actors after his Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum co-star Naeema Butt recently said that her cast mates didn’t like sharing the stage with others.
“I don’t know what her experience was, but for me, Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum was the best experience of my career. Be it Javed (Sheikh), Bushra Ansari, Fahad Mustafa — whom I played brothers with, and our relationship was brotherly on and off camera. I had challenging scenes with Hania (Aamir) and Naeema.”
He reiterated how positive the experience had been, adding that if someone offered him the chance to do it all over again, he’d seize the opportunity with both hands. When asked whether his time on and off screen had been a rewarding experience, Irfani said yes.
“I think that’s why the drama was a hit. The camaraderie and chemistry we had off-screen showed in the illusion we created on-screen. No one knows what happens behind the scenes, and humans have their own likes and dislikes, which creates conflict.”
He maintained that his experience with senior actors was also pleasant.
Badami also questioned if Irfani believed the entertainment industry was insecure, to which the actor replied: “Every person has insecurities and fears and overcoming them should be your goal.”
His comments come shortly after Butt, on Samaa TV’s Gup Shab With Vasay Chaudhry, said people in her field only exchanged pleasantries on a surface level. Detailing her experience on the show, the actor said she initially felt that she was getting a lot of support from her co-stars.
“I felt my colleagues were appreciating my work, and that was really encouraging because I haven’t done a lot of dramas. I kept daydreaming and thinking we’re great friends, but it wasn’t like that in reality.”
Butt said when the cameras were on things appeared “amazing” but as soon as they turned off, her fellow actors wouldn’t let her on stage. “It’s so bad, but it’s good to have learned that if someone posts about you on social media, that doesn’t mean they’re your friend,” she remarked.
She went on to say that people in the industry sought appreciation from the audience and were making an effort to show that they weren’t insecure and supported new talent.
