Celebrated composer Zulfiqar Ali Attre passes away at 61

He composed music for over 50 films, including Sarmad Khoosat's Kamli.

Renowned music composer Zulfiqar Ali Attre passed away in Lahore after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 61.

Attre composed music for over 50 films, including Chooriyan, Majajan, and most notably the song ‘Mukhra’ for Sarmad Khoosat’s 2022 film Kamli. He was working as a music director for the film Welcome Punjab which is currently filming, The Express Tribune reported.

Last year, Attre received the Pride of Performance award, Pakistan’s highest civilian honour, for demonstrating excellence in his line of work.

The composer was laid to rest at 1pm on Friday in Khyber Block, Allama Iqbal Town.

Actor Imran Abbas shared a picture with Attre and recalled an instance where his meeting with the composer was postponed but Attre visited him on the set of Tumhare Husn Ka Naam

“Today, we mourn the loss of one of the film industry’s most exceptional music directors. Rest in peace. Another cherished elder who always sent me prayers is gone.”

Khoosat shared the news of Attre’s passing on his Instagram story with a broken heart emoji.

He was sweet, excellent composer. 80's era was dominated by his composition. Film Bilawal, dilan day soday, Kalka etc had high quality songs. Once happened to listen him LIVE.... amazingly he entertained the audience through his qualitative music, style of singing. He will be remembered in the Film World. May his soul rest in peace!

So sad, RIP. Sadly life span in Pakistan and India getting so low for both men’s and women’s, average men’s and women’s 55-65, my best advice eat less walk more and drive less walk more may help to increase life span.

61 is too young. We have an alarming rate of cardiac arrest and related issues. I wonder if it's our diet and lack of physical fitness even in young groups. Much like the prevalence of diabetes. If majority could afford it or even access it, the Mediterranean diet is the way to go. There is a reason Arabs, even war struck Palestinians live longer and without major health issues and can access clean water, fresh and pure unsprayed crops, such as olives, fruits, fresh foods, emphasis on eating clean and varied, whereas in Pakistan nothing is what the label says. Honey is sugary blob but not actua honey as any lab test will reveal, milk is diluted with water and chemicals, even black tea is not clean, same for lentils, rices, spices, our crops from wheats to fruits and veggies are all sprayed, our meat is rotten and sick and GMO and clean water doesn't exist unless you are rich or upper middle-class. Our cuisine is unhealthy unfit for daily consumption, we are addicted to sweets, our foods are overcooked saturated with oils, losing all nourishment and vitamins with dangerous cooking oils not fit for human consumption as revealed through multiple raids. On top of that we think exercise is a sin and assume overweight is natural for age. It's sad because some serious health issues can definitely be avoided. RIP.
