‘Goodbye forever’: Fans officially ‘quit’ after Pakistan loses a winning match against India in T20 World Cup

In a thrilling T20 World Cup encounter, the Indian cricket team emerged victorious against Pakistan, securing a nail-biting win by a margin of six runs.

The much-anticipated match lived up to its hype, with emotions running high on both sides of the border until everything changed.

Batting first after losing the toss, India faced a formidable Pakistani bowling attack. Despite a shaky start, with no batsman apart from Rishabh Pant managing to reach double figures, the Indian team posted a modest total of 119 runs in 19 overs.

Pakistan commenced their chase with optimism but was soon met with resistance from the Indian bowlers. Despite a promising first 10 overs, the Pakistani batting order struggled to maintain momentum against the tight bowling of the Indian team — Jasprit Bumrah’s exceptional spell earned him the coveted title of Man of the Match.

Despite efforts from individual players, notably Naseem Shah, who exhibited determination until the very end, Pakistan fell agonizingly short of the target, ultimately losing by a slender margin of six runs.

The aftermath has witnessed memes, but mostly, disappointed reactions from fans. Memes were a constant during the match, especially when Pakistan was bowling — and until then, winning.

Exhibit A:

Naseem Shah was a recurring theme for the Pakistani X brigade

Celebrities were also spotted celebrating

It’s not over till it’s over

But it wasn’t long before it dawned on fans that the tides had turned in India’s favour and it might be too late for the green shirts.

The match ended with many expressing solidarity with standout performers like Naseem Shah. Some Pakistani fans humorously declared their “resignation” from the Pakistani cricket team fandom.

Beneath the banter and the disappointed tweets lies Pakistan’s deep-seated passion for cricket — a sentiment that has long transcended victories and defeats. However, for the first time, it seems Pakistanis are struggling to find comfort in the hopes of a “next time”. Especially after our embarrassing loss against the US just a few days ago and now, our loss to India.

It's about time for Pakistan to lose its colonial attachment to cricket. We've had a good innings, produced several truly great players, but Pakistan cricket is going the way of Pakistan hockey. Better by far to turn to football - the truly global game, not indulged in by only a dozen countries. We have a population of 220 million and we should be able to find 22 individuals who can do magic with their feet. Then we can blend them into a team. Let's take the FIFA money and find these natural-born geniuses in our villages and towns and cities. Let's aim for a place in the 2030 World Cup.

Extremely disappointed. First loss against inexperienced team USA, and now this. All needed was to save wickets and keep rotating strike. Wasn't a rocket science. Drop Shadab forever. This Babar - Shadab friendship is costing Pakistan all the games. This needs to stop. Bring proper batting contingent by giving chance to players that can hit the ball, unlike Shadab.

Not surprised pakistani team is not qualified to compete in internationally. They couldnt hold their grounds against US. A team which has no professional players. To be honest our players should quit cricket and strat doing TV. Commercials.

Pakistani bowlers through their hard work prepared a wonderful cake for the whole Team to enjoy but the Pakistani batsmen (bunch of amateurs) spoiled the cake and their dream of victory. And Pakistan lost to India.

T20 is a strange and funny game of cricket where heroes are dusted. Any team can win irrespective of its strength vis-a vis opponent's.

I can completely imagine what Pakistani fans are going through now after their team lost the game to India. They had it in their hands, but, some miscalculations by the star performers let it slip from their hands. A target of 120 was so close and yet, at the end, it was so far! Anyways, I would like to congratulate members of both team for making this game a thrilling one!

Again, the Pakistani cricket team has let the entire nation down . Why can't they play as a disciplined unit, why do they always fail to bear the pressure of big matches? And is it really worth supporting and sponsoring and throwing away public money on them ?

Although it is a game but enough is enough. Its question of public emotions .Things can be fixed if responsibility is fixed. In the game what was the performance of Babar and Fakhar as senior responsible players.

Rain, Pitch, toss and T20 format - all converged to favour Pakistan and reduce the gap with the Indian team. Still it was not enough for a Pakisthani victory. This proves that superior talent is so important for success.

Where does one begin? Too many to mention; sacking of Afridi, reinstatement of Babar, is Azam the best keeper?, being 2 bowlers out of international retirement and playing a poached player from UAE with no exposure at this level….. these 4 alone make up one third of a team and all below par. Training and build up all wrong with no proper coach having sacked mickey Arthur and then being trained for this by the Pak Army. So all in all, the writing was already on the wall having lost against a second string NZ side on home soil. And what a poor thought process, Amir and Imamad chose for “past “ performances in the Cartibbean…. Did no one check the fixture schedule and note that all qualities before S8 were predominantly in the USA. Shame Shame Shame

This happen everything when these jokers r in Government replacement of Babar with Shaheen n again giving back the cap to Babar how can we expect out team to play n win as cool games like it was 120 ball n 120 score to just very simple needed to rotate n keep hitting bad ball simple IQ thing don't hit big on experience bowlers yes we can comment but it was simple as it can be but our team MashAllah made a mess of it as a fan of cricket so much disheartened by them we r organizer of Champions Trophy in coming year n what r we playing losing again office players USA TEAM SERIOUSLY

Babar Jun 14, 2024 05:24pm
Babar is the problem, he has been allowed to forge close friendship with many players, and those players get selected regardless of their poor performances. Also, supporters, medial, and et al have labelled him 'King Babar', Babar is a very good batsman, other than that what has the team achieved under his leadership? Almost 5 years he's been around as a captain and Pk have slipped in the world rankings in all formats. As a captain he is completely clueless, he is out of his depth, unable to read the game, unable to make winning moves. Great captains often win matches through their decision making, field placing, changing bowlers at the right time. Babar simply waits for the opposition to make mistakes, he does not force mistakes, other times Babar relies on individuals (bat or ball) to win the game for him. Remove him from captaincy immediately, appoint someone who is not currently in the playing 11, I'm sure there is a player in the PSL who is a standout captain material. Finally, PCB should not allow or let player power form within the squad, and when that happens immediately drop those players involved. I rather have a honest, but a weak PK team as opposed to a team full of best buddies.
