Psychological thriller In Flames is hitting cinemas in Karachi on Oct 20
Filmmaker Zarrar Kahn is bringing his psychological thriller In Flames to Pakistan — the film will be screened exclusively at Atrium in Karachi from October 20 to 31.
Anam Abbas, the film’s producer, believes that the Karachi-set In Flames advocates for a compelling, revolutionary narrative in the Pakistani film industry. This is a truly trailblazing film, carving out a new space in Pakistan.
In Flames aims to explore the consequences of living in the confines of a fiercely patriarchal society while illuminating the psychological impact of oppression and the complexities of young love in Pakistan. The film “intends to immerse you in the dusty beauty of Karachi, allowing you to witness the difficult choices that must be made to survive another day. It tells a captivating story centred around the struggles faced by a mother and daughter in the wake of the patriarch’s untimely demise.”
The film has garnered accolades at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival and Busan International Film Festival.
In Flames stars Ramesha Nawal, Bakhtawar Mazhar, Mohammad Ali Hashmi, Adnan Shah Tipu and Omar Javaid.
It has been written and directed by Zarrar Kahn and produced by Anam Abbas. The executive producer is Shant Joshi.
