Muneeb Butt’s new show is dark, gritty and, according to him, a must watch
Muneeb Butt is on a roll when it comes to unconventional projects and his latest offering is no different. In it, he plays a pimp on a spiritual journey.
The special project with Seema Taher Khan and TV One is titled Motia Sarkar and Butt plays the titular Motia, a young man who works at a brothel in a red-light district.
It’s dark content, an art play, he explained to Images. “It’s about a boy named Motia whose mother and sister are both prostitutes,” he said.
“It’s about his transformation from a pimp to spirituality.”
“If you look at it from an artistic point of view, you’ll really enjoy it,” he said excitedly. Butt described the show as being very “impactful”.
Motia Sarkar, he said, is “dark entertainment”. There is a love story in it — with a dancer named Chambeli played by Amna Ilyas — but overall, it’s about the character’s transformation.
