Jibran Nasir, a well-known rights activist and lawyer, was “picked up by unidentified men” in Karachi, his wife, actor Mansha Pasha, told Dawn late Thursday night. Soon after, members of the entertainment industry began calling for his safe return.
In the video, Pasha said they were coming home after dinner around 11pm when they were intercepted by a vehicle. “Around 15 men in plain clothes with pistols surrounded our vehicle and took Jibran forcefully.”
They only kept yelling at us to get out of the car and offered no explanation, she added, requesting for prayers for his recovery.
Comedian Ali Gul Pir reminded everyone that Nasir always “stood up for those in need” and called for people to raise their voices for him.
Actor Osman Khalid Butt called for his release and prayed for his safe and swift return home.
Director Shaarmeen Obaid Chinoy wrote on her Instagram Story, saying, “There is no one left…they have silenced everyone”
Actor Osama Tahir shared Pasha’s video and wrote “Please pray for his quick and safe return.”
