Canadian rock band Sum 41 is disbanding after 27 years
Canadian rock band Sum 41 have announced that they are disbanding after 27 years together. The pop-punk group gained prominence for their songs ‘In Too Deep’ and ‘Fatlip’. The act will release their final album and go on a world tour before parting their ways.
They revealed the news on Twitter.
“We are forever grateful to our fans both old and new, who have supported us in every way. It is hard to articulate the love and respect we have for all of you and we wanted you to hear it from us first,” they said.
The act will “still be finishing” all of their current upcoming tour dates this year and they “look forward” to releasing their final album Heaven :x: Hell along with a final worldwide headlining tour to celebrate. The dates have yet to be announced.
“For now, we look forward to seeing all of you [people] on the road and are excited for what the future will bring for each of us.
“Thank you for the last 27 years of Sum 41,” they added.
The group was formed in Ontario in 1996 and released seven albums with multiple line-ups, according to the BBC. They were part of the pop-punk wave that included Blink-182, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte and others.
