Singer Avril Lavigne is engaged to fellow artist Mod Sun
Canadian singer Avril Lavigne is engaged to American singer Mod Sun after dating for a little over a year.
The 'Sk8er Boi' singer announced the big news by making it Instagram official on April 7. She posted photos of Sun proposing in Paris with the Eiffel Tower in the background. The series of photos of the couple featured one where she showed off her diamond ring, making it very clear that the couple has taken their relationship to the next level.
The lovebirds took their time going public with the news because the 'Girlfriend' singer's caption indicated that the big day was actually March 27. "Oui! Je t’aime pour toujours. Dimanche. 27. Mars. 2022 [Yes! I love you forever. Sunday. 27 March 2022]," she wrote.
The couple coordinated their posting time as Sun also dedicated a post on his Instagram to their special day. He wrote a poem for his fiancée that said proposing to her is a dream come true.
"The day we met I knew you were the one,
Together forever till our days are done.
I had a dream where I proposed in Paris,
I pulled out a ring, asked you to wear it.
I was on one knee as I looked in your eyes,
You’re too beautiful for my words to describe.
I grabbed your hand, took one last breath…
I said 'Will you marry me?' she said 'Yes'," he captioned the post, signing it off with "I love you Avril."
The 'What the Hell' singer told E! News at the Grammys the story of how the lovebirds met. They met in 2020 while working on their music and began dating that November. Sun co-wrote and co-produced tracks for her new album Love Sux and she's featured on his single 'Flames,' costarring with him in its music video as well.
Citing the name of her new album, Lavigne said, "That's how I was feeling when I started making this album. I was, like, over it. I was like, 'I need a break from relationships, I'm gonna check out.' That didn't last very long, a couple days then I got myself a boyfriend."
The Canadian singer has been married twice before — to Sum 41's Deryck Whibley and Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger.
