Reality TV star Uorfi Javed, known for her bold fashion choices, has filed a police complaint against BJP leader Chitra Kishor Wagh, the Maharashtra Mahila Morcha president, citing “criminal intimidation” after the leader demanded Javed’s arrest for “indulging in nudity publicly on the streets of Mumbai”. A day later, on Saturday, Javed was summoned by the Amboli Police Station for wearing “objectionable clothes” on Wagh’s complaint.

According to The Times of India, Javed’s lawyer said on Friday, “I have lodged complaint for the offence under sections 153(A)(B), 504, 506, 506(ii) of the [Indian Penal Code] against BJP party worker Smt Chitra Kishor Wagh for threatening, and criminal intimidation to cause harm to model/actress Urfi Javed on public domain as well as requested for preventive action under section 149 and 107 of the [Code of Criminal Procedure], (chapter proceeding against her as she is continuously committing breach of peace in society by threatening on media).”

He added that the complaint has also been mailed to the Maharashtra State Commission for Woman and said he will personally meet the chairperson of the government body.

However, today (Saturday) the publication reported that due to Wagh’s complaint, Javed arrived at the police station for further inquiry into the matter.

Javed took to Instagram in a now expired Instagram story where she had written, “I know it’s quite dangerous uploading stuff against politicians but then these people are making me suicidal anyway so either I kill myself or say my mind and get killed by them :) But again hi I didn’t start this, I never did anything wrong to anyone. They are coming at me for no f**king reason,” in reference to Wagh’s complaint.

Javed rose to fame as a contestant on Bigg Boss OTT, and then appeared on MTV Splitsvilla. She is best known as a social media star for her DIY outfits.

Even though Uorfi Jared's exploits are not something to be proud of, It is not the business of BJP to condemn and criticize her personal life.

She does wear provocative clothes but she is not hurting anyone. We bigger things to worry about than threatening her. This whole concept of having laws related to women’s “modesty” in South Asia is twisted. Let’s fix peoples’ corrupt minds first.

Clearly she is desperate enough for publicity that she sheds her clothes at the drop of a shirt, whether in Dubai or in Mumbai. Girls should have better self-esteem than to sell just their bodies for fame.

BJP should also file cases, based on “indulging in nudity publicly on the streets", against the Hindu priests (mostly men) and devotees (mostly men) walking around topless. Millions of men and women find their vulgar display offensive, repulsive and down right obscene.

I am even ashamed to comment on this simply because even the slight nudity is not allowed by any religion what to talk of Islam which must be religion of Urfi Javed as per her name I believe. I wish she should forthwith start being properly dressed up instead of running after others. zaidiexdiplomat@hotmail.com
