‘None of it was done by any kind of surgical interference’: Singer Adnan Sami opens up about his weight loss journey
Singer-composer Adnan Sami lost 130kg few years ago and stunned many people with his body transformation. But with the weight-loss came rumours that the ‘Sun Zara’ singer opted for surgical options. Opening up about his journey, the singer told Indian media that with the help of his nutritionist, he was able to lose all the weight by changing his lifestyle instead of surgery or liposuction.
During a recent interview with Mashable India, Sami said, “There is a tremendous question mark on how did I lose weight. People thought, ‘inhone surgery karvayi, liposuction karvaya’ [he got some surgery, he got liposuction] but it was done without any kind of surgical interference.”
The singer who is known for hits like ‘Tera Chehra’, ‘Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein’ and ‘Kabhi To Nazar Milao’ shared that he moved to the US after his doctor gave him an ultimatum of six months.
“He told me the way you are leading your life, I wouldn’t be surprised if your parents find you dead in a hotel room in six months. My father was listening to this entire conversation. That evening he had a very emotional conversation with me. He said, ‘I have been through everything that you had to endure. I have been with you through thick and thin. I have always held your hand and have never asked you for anything. But I just have one request, you have to bury me. I cannot bury you, no father should bury his child,’” Sami shared.
He then promised his father that he’d lose weight and so the singer went to Texas and got himself a nutritionist who changed his lifestyle and suggested he maintain it for the rest of his life.
Sami made his debut in the Hindi film industry with his song ‘Tu Sirf Mera Mehboob’ for film Ajnabee in 2001. He officially became an Indian citizen in 2016 after giving up his Pakistani citizenship and has been awarded Padma Shri for his contribution to the field since then. The Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian award in the country.
