Last year, Bollywood’s Jacqueline Fernandez grabbed media attention when her name was linked to alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar in an INR 2 billion money laundering case. The actor was summoned by India’s Directorate of Enforcement (ED) several times to record her statement. She has now been named in the ED’s chargesheet.

According to the Times of India, the actor has been named in the chargesheet, however, it has been reported that she may not be arrested right now as the court has yet to acknowledge the written report. She is, however, restricted from travelling outside India.

According to the publication, Fernandez initially did not respond to messages sent by the conman. Later, he approached the Vikrant Rona actor through her hairdresser. According to TOI, in Chandrasekhar’s introduction he had said that he was the owner of a TV network and a jewellery brand. The report added that during questioning, Fernandez had also told investigators that she was not aware of the conman calling from Tihar jail at the time.

Several stories have since surfaced on the internet about Fernandez dating Chandrasekhar but the Bollywood star chose to maintain her silence on the matter and asked for privacy even when her and the conman’s photos were leaked online. According to Indian media, the actor revealed that she had met Chandrasekhar only twice, that too when he was out on parole.

According to Pinkvilla, Fernandez has appeared before the ED for questioning on several occasions, the latest being June 27.

Fernandez is a Sri Lankan actor and model who won the Miss Universe pageant in 2006 and debuted as an actor with the Indian film Aladin. Since then she’s starred in films such as Houseful 2, Murder 2 and Netflix films Drive and Mrs. Serial Killer. Her most recent work is with Kiccha Sudeep in Vikrant Rona.

On the work front she will be next seen in Ram Setu alongside Akshay Kumar, Nushrat Bharucha, and Cirkus with Ranveer Singh, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and more.
