Britney Spears calls her sons’ behaviour ‘hateful’ after their father said they have detached from her
Britney Spears has chosen to share her side of the story after her ex-husband Kevin Federline publicly revealed that their sons, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, don’t want anything to do with her. Spears explained that she has tried her best to connect with them but to no avail — they choose to be “hateful” towards her.
According to Page Six, the ‘Toxic’ singer addressed the matter on Wednesday, in a since-deleted Instagram post. “I know that teenagers are just hard to deal with… but COME ON. There’s being rude then there’s being HATEFUL,” she continued. “They would visit me, walk in the door, go straight to their room and lock the door!!!”
“The monitor” would tell Spears that her son just likes to be in his room. “I’m like why come visit me if they don’t even visit me!!!” She added that she had avoided talking about these incidents in order to stay away from the “argumentative” label.
The ‘Gimme More’ singer opened up more and told her followers that though she was assigned two days a week with her boys — or three when asked — sometimes they “stayed for only one day.”
She went on to call teenage years a “weird” age and said she may have tried too hard to get their love. “I don’t know what’s going on in their heads!!!… I always TRIED and TRIED and maybe that’s why they stopped coming here!!! I wanted them to love me so much that I might have overdone it!!!”
While Spears was “fine” with Preston and Jayden sharing their wishes to come over “less,” she did find their request “pretty harsh.” The ‘…Baby One More Time’ singer added that she hasn’t seen them since and she’s not okay with it, “It’s been kinda nice not having to ask about which day the boys are coming this week and making me wait 2 or 3 days for a reply!!!”
The rant came four days after Federline’s interview with The Daily Mail in which he aired private details about his children’s relationship with their mother. He revealed that they have chosen “not to see her” for “a few months” and also weren’t willing to attend her wedding to now-husband Sam Asghari in June.
The ‘Circus’ singer, who was married to the DJ from 2004 to 2007, had responded to the interview on Saturday on her Instagram story, calling it “hurtful”. She pointed out that though her ex has alleged that the reason for their sons’ desire to detach from her is her Instagram posts, which include nude photos, this behaviour had preceded her social media days and she had tried her best. “As we all know, raising teenage boys is never easy for anyone,” she wrote. “I gave them everything.”
