Scorching heat predicted for Eidul Azha definitely has us down in the dumps but it won't stop us from raving over the films releasing this Eid!

Viewers will get to choose between Fahad Mustafa and Mahira Khan’s action-comedy Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad, family entertainer London Nahi Jaunga starring Mehwish Hayat and Humayun Saeed, horror-comedy Lafangey and Marvel’s superhero film Thor: Love and Thunder.

The films will be appearing in cinemas all over Pakistan. Karachiites can watch the films at Nueplex Cinemas, Atrium Cinemas, Cinepax Cinema or Capri Cinema. For Lahore, Universal Cinemas, CUE Cinema, CineStar Cinema and Cinepax are the options. And for Islamabad, Cineplex, Islamabad Club Cinema, The Arena are the places to go. The list of theatres includes other cities as well.

Here's what to expect from the movies:

Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad

Produced by Fizza Ali Meerza and directed by Nabeel Qureshi, Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad is an action-comedy. The trailer hints at a police officer who earns through illegal means but gets a spiritual awakening midway through the story and realises his patriotic duty. The on-screen chemistry of Mustafa and Mahira holds great promise.

London Nahi Jaunga

A film by Nadeem Baig, London Nahi Jaunga explores a love triangle between Saeed, Hayat and Kubra Khan. With a larger than life set and strong storyline, London Nahi Jaunga seems to offer action, romance and drama all in one.

Lafangey

Lafangey is a horror-comedy with Sami Khan and Nazish Khan as the main leads. It is about four friends who set out to live in a haunted house and compete with the supernatural beings there. Actors such as Mani, Saleem Miraj and Mubeen Gabol play Sami’s friends in the movie.

Thor: Love and Thunder

A Marvel movie starring Chris Hemsworth never lets one down. The movie finds Hemsworth, also known as God of Thunder, on a quest for inner peace. His retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale, who seeks extinction of the Gods.

Thor will be releasing on July 8 while the the rest will hit theatres on July 10.

It is a very welcome sign that Cinemas are having good showings. The low lighting, big screen, surround sound and theater acoustics all greatly enhance the majority of movies. Horror movies in particular greatly benefit from being watched in theaters. Nothing beats gathering up your friends and family and going to see a super cool flick. Not to mention the awesome snacks and drinks, though these can be pretty expensive (which is why you bring your own and hide them in someone’s purse). Netflix and Hulu will always be there for those that prefer to snuggle up on the couch in their pajamas and binge watch their favorite series. The movie theater will always be there for people that want a high quality viewing experience (and again, cool snacks and popcorn).
