It has been two years since actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death but the investigation into the events surrounding his demise continues. The Dil Bechara actor's ex-girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik have once again come onto the police's radar and have been charged in the drug case related to the late actor's passing.

According to The Hindustan Times, India's Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) filed draft charges against the siblings before a special court in Mumbai on Wednesday.

News agency PTI reported that special public prosecutor Atul Sarpande said the prosecution maintained charges against all the accused, as mentioned in the charge sheet. As per the report, the prosecution has proposed the court charges Rhea and Showik for consumption of narcotic substances and for procuring and paying for such substances for Rajput.

The special public prosecutor said the court was scheduled to frame charges against all the accused. However, this was not possible as a few of the accused moved discharge applications, suspending action till the discharge pleas are decided.

The Chakraborty siblings, along with the other accused, appeared before the court on June 22. Special judge V G Raghuwanshi set the matter for hearing on July 12.

Thirty four-year-old Rajput was found dead in his apartment in Mumbai in June 2020. While there was no note, the Mumbai Police ruled it a suicide.

In September 2020, following a police complaint filed by Rajput's family accusing Rhea of abetment to suicide, the NCB arrested the Bollywood actor and her brother for their alleged role in a drugs case related to the Raabta actor; an angle that emerged during investigation of the late actor's death.

Roughly a month later, after heavy scrutiny, the Half Girlfriend actor was granted bail on a bond of 100,000 INR.

Recently, on the Chhichhore actor's second death anniversary, his ex-girlfriend dedicated an Instagram post to his memory and wrote, "Miss you everyday..."
