Actor and filmmaker Usman Mukhtar's latest short film Aik Tou Tum Aurtain, a SeePrime production, pays tribute to women, especially home workers without whom surviving the pandemic would not have been possible. It also honours their importance in everyday life that's shoved in the background despite women being the backbone of society.

Directed by Nadeem Baig with Madiha Imam as the leading lady, the film was released on YouTube on Saturday. It depicts the social stigmas of how men treat women in society and in their homes. Mukhtar's role shows what is wrong with the way women are mishandled and misjudged starting from their very own families at home, relaying what needs changing.

The film focuses particularly on the pandemic, making a point of how women in our society really held fort and globally fought this pandemic resiliently.

"This project is one that is close to my heart. I have always felt that our society discredits women and continually tries to put them down. I am so glad that I have had the opportunity to work on a project that is tackling and shedding light on a narrative mostly swept under the rug. We all know how challenging the pandemic has been, and it is high time we recognise the importance of the women in our lives that make our houses into homes, and give credit where it is due," said Mukhtar.

Mukhtar made his acting debut with the film Janaan in 2016. Since then, he has built his career with performances in notable dramas such as Aana and Sabaat, feature film, Parchi and his own award winning short Bench.

More recently, the actor was seen in the hit shows Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay and Sinf e Aahan, which had a female centric cast and focused on challenges women face when joining the military.

Well made short film. A tribute to all the women who sacrifice their personal dreams and ambitions, are separated from their own parents and siblings, have to raise a husband, kids, and in-laws, have to be a housewife and constantly on her foot and is not able to take time off or time out for herself and do anything for herself, always be selfless and giving to others and put them first and never herself, but still gets told daily by the same family she sacrifices herself for ‘what do you even do!’.
