Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy and Marvel Studio's upcoming series Ms. Marvel is all about representing "brown culture," be it through Pakistani-American superhero Kamala Khan's love for sugar-coated saunf (fennel seeds), dialogues from Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan's best films or Hasan Raheem, Talal Qureshi and Justin Bibis' 'Peechay Hutt' being featured in the show.

On Wednesday, BBC entertainment reporter and radio host Haroon Rashid took to Twitter and shared a photo of him, Iman Vellani and Rishi Shah from the upcoming Disney+ and Marvel series.

In his tweet he mentioned that he has seen two episodes of the show and "loved" it. He waxed poetic about the South Asian representation he wanted to see in the show and called the show "unapologetically brown" based on Kamala's love for saunf, Raees actor Khan's dialogues and the Coke Studio song being featured on the soundtrack.

The series will be releasing exclusively in theatres in Pakistan in June and July. Disney+ is not available for viewers in Pakistan. Earlier this month, Chinoy had announced that Disney and Marvel have created a special theatre format for Ms. Marvel. The six-episode show will be split into three parts according to the filmmaker.

Episodes one and two will debut on June 16, three and four on June 30 and five and six on July 14.

The show is being directed by Oscar-winning Pakistani filmmaker Chinoy, Meera Menon, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.

The cast includes Aramis Knight, Matt Lintz, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Mohan Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Nimra Bucha, Zenobia Shroff, Yasmeen Fletcher, Travina Springer, Laurel Marsden, Laith Nakli and Azhra Usman. Fawad Khan was also rumoured to make an appearance in the show, however, his cameo hasn't been confirmed yet.

Pakistani-American superhero Kamala Khan's love for sugar-coated saunf (fennel seeds), this idea is so fresh and cool that I am laughing already. I know some one like that, he is my elder brother. Sharmeen is a very cool act, just cannot wait for this original and authentic series.
