Syra Yousuf, Quratulain Balouch and other celebs stand behind PM Imran Khan ahead of no-trust motion

Actor Syra Yousuf and singer Quratulain Balouch are among celebrities who have openly pledged their support to PM Imran Khan ahead of the no-trust motion. The vote is set to take place at 12:30pm.

The restored National Assembly will decide the fate of PM Khan after a Supreme Court ruling on Thursday that ordered the no-confidence motion to be voted on today. Whether the votes against the PM outweigh the votes in favour of him or not is of no consequence to his supporters — they stand behind him regardless.

Celebrities such as Yousuf, Balouch, Shaan Shahid and Haroon Shahid have openly declared what side they're picking and it's Khan's.

Actor Yousuf posted a tweet expressing sadness over the turn in events and prayed for "courage and strength" to aim for a good future. She attached the hashtag #BehindYouSkipper to show her support.

Musician Balouch showed repulsion towards the Supreme Court's decision and questioned the democracy where votes of MNAs that can be bought easily take precedence over votes of the people. "I stand with Imran Khan and for your own sake, stand up for yourself," she added.

Actor Shaan tagged PM Khan and said his real journey "as a great leader" has only just begun. He asked the PM to keep fighting, "This nation needs you.. Don’t give up on us.. Don’t give up on Pakistan."

Actor Haroon accepted the court ruling and encouraged the supporters to prepare for the "next battle," saying even if they lose on Saturday, they will get up to fight another day on Sunday and keep going. "Pakistan Zindabad, Imran Khan Zindabad!" he exclaimed.

Celebrities such as Mahira Khan, Adnan Siddiqui, Ahmed Ali Butt, Saba Qamar, Bilal Maqsood and Maya Ali have also publicly shown support for PM Khan in the past few weeks. Popular vloggers Zaid Ali and Shahveer Jafry also stand behind the PM.

I find it distateful in the extreme that imran is willing to do anything to the constitution if he cannot continue as PM. He is a security risk and should be tried under article 6, before he destroys Pakistan further

What goes around comes around, a very similar complain/narrative was being built up by PMLN in 2017 back when the 'AZAD ADLIA' ousted Mr. Sharif. Celebrities think they know it all better. They're just IKs propaganda tool for now.

@ asif , how did you come to that conclusion? Just because the rest of the celebs haven't come out in public to supports, doesn't mean they dont support! If we were to follow your logic, hardly any actor/actress or celeb have shown support for the opposition, therefore the opposition have 0% celeb support?

@Najam Get your perspective right. He's the only one trying to fix a Pakistan that was broken long ago. He demands only that the people choose. He opposes a cobbled together false "alliance" whose only commonality is that individually and combined, they are less popular than PTI. He opposes that people elected as PTI representatives be allowed to later switch sides in open ridicule of their electorate. In normal democratic practice, this switching would trigger an automatic by-election to serve the people's interests. I have not even touched upon the literal criminality of the "unified" opposition. Do people here actually know what democracy is or is it all just loot loot loot to you?
