'The last hope for Pakistan': More celebrities come forward in show of support for PM Imran

Stars took to Twitter and Instagram to show support for the prime minister ahead of the no-trust vote.
01 Apr, 2022

More and more celebrities are coming forward in show of support for Prime Minister Imran Khan amid the ongoing uproar surrounding the no-trust vote. Some of the more recent ones to advocate for the prime minister are actors Syra Yousuf, Maya Ali, Ali Kazmi and Shahroz Sabzwari.

After the opposition submitted the no-trust motion against the prime minister on March 8, several of the premier's celebrity supporters have been professing their loyalty towards him. Many recently took to Twitter and Instagram to declare their support for Khan. "You were elected by your people and I will always select you," wrote Yousuf on Instagram Story with a photo of the premier.

Pehli Si Mohabbat star Maya Ali also shared her thoughts, saying there was "only one" man in politics who really wanted to do something great for Pakistan. Posting a photo of Khan on her Instagram, Ali wrote in the caption: "It takes time to rebuild and construct things. Pakistan needs him." She added that "our votes do matter" and that she stands with Khan.

Ali Kazmi also took to Twitter and wrote that Khan will always be a "true leader" for Pakistan and that he is with the captain. "It’s a sad future for the country , if we lose him," the Ishrat Made in China star wrote.

YouTubers Shahveer Jafry and Zaid Ali T also lent their support for the skipper. "Be a champion like Imran Khan. Wounded and back stabbed yet fighting the battle like a freaking champion," tweeted Jafry.

Zaid Ali T wrote that Khan was the "last hope" for Pakistan and that unfortunately we have failed him as a nation. "We don't deserve a leader like Imran khan," he tweeted.

Former model Anam Malik also shared a photo of the prime minister and called him "a real hero" of Pakistan.

Professing his support for Khan, Shahroz Sabzwari, shared a photo of the prime minister with the hashtag "I stand with my Prime Minister."

Earlier on, Saba Qamar, Humayun Saeed, Adnan Siddiqui, Mahira Khan, Bilal Maqsood, Annie Khalid, Shaan Shahid, Muneeb Butt, Aiman Khan and Samina Peerzada also posted on social media to support Khan.

The crucial National Assembly session to debate the no-confidence motion against the prime minister, which resumed after a three-day recess on Thursday, was adjourned minutes after it began. Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri adjourned the session till 11:30am on Sunday, April 3, when the vote on the no-confidence motion is expected to take place.

Celebs have no idea what's going on in Pakistan. Neither do they have any political sense, nor do they make any effort to understand the political dynamics and political strategies of our parties. What they do is wake up last night from the nightmare and make a status regarding the last hope and then sleep. They remain in a state of slumber unless someone says that our PM is forced to go home. In last 3. 5 yeas, while we witnessed economic woos, they enjoyed traveling abroad or talking about the glamorous things and gossips for which they get a lot of money.

Imran Khan is an honest capable leader, who put the interest of the country first, after a very long time. It is so sad and disappointing that he is being pushed out by PDM, a bunch of self-interested crooks. They say a country gets the leadership they deserve, we as a nation have to do some introspection, and think as majority are we made up basically of the thinking and the likes of the PDM?

The only contribution Pakistani "actor" can make to society is when he or she quits. Quits selling mass produced corporate combo of flour and sugar and salt. Quits selling toxic notions to the generations that will come ahead. Actors participating in any intellectual endeavour actually berates the particular purpose and does not further its cause. To all the quitters, I thank you!

If Imran Khan is the Last Hope for Pakistan, then It is Pakistans' quintessential delusion - the abode of idealism and as we have seen recently the debilitating disease that plagues the Pakistani psyche called conspiracy theories. In essence Pakistan has no hope at all. Only a true revolution can 'undo' what has been done in Pakistans' name.

I am surprised that people think actors are not citizens and their choice to vote and support a political leadership is automatically dubious because of their profession. The probability of PPP and PML N supporters in this comment section selling their votes for qeemay wale naan is more than the people they're dissing here. At these most of the actors mentioned are positively representing Pakistan unlike the ones who themselves sell votes for personal profits and think of everyone else the same as themselves. And the people saying 'good that it's not stars who decide in a democracy ' are beyond ridiculous for portraying 'stars' to be doosrey siyaare ki makhlooq who aren't citizens of this country. Your profession does not diminish your voice or your right to choose the leadership of your own country.
