Pakistani netizens are dragging Suzuki for relaunching the Bolan with an AC and 'washing machine knobs'

After three decades, the van has no airbags, no additional safety measures, just an AC and vibes, according to Twitter users.

Suzuki Pakistan has re-launched its 30-year-old Suzuki Bolan with an amazing and highly innovative update — an air-conditioner — and Pakistani netizens are as amazed as you, dear reader.

In an age of electric cars and keyless drives, Suzuki's 'update' hasn't impressed anyone, nor has the asking price — a whopping Rs1.3 million, according to Developing Pakistan. On the official Suzuki website, the price of the Bolan is almost Rs1.2 million, however, there is no mention of an air-conditioner in the model online.

Other than the rather bulky AC knobs, the Bolan looks exactly as it did 30 years ago, when it used to ferry children to school in the morning and adults back home after work in the evening.

"And the wait is finally over as Suzuki Bolan with AC is here. Launched by Pakistan Suzuki with a price tag of Rs.1,265,000," Developing Pakistan wrote in a tweet.

There were a lot of people as amazed with the innovative upgrades as you are. They had a lot to say about the AC knobs too.

This user jokingly asked for the rate of development to slow down so that we don't overtake the US and China.

Maybe time travel is real.

There were washing machine jokes, of course.

Lots of washing machine jokes.

And a whole lot of sarcasm.

Users said Japanese car shows feature these 'vintage' vans. Who knew we've been riding in historical automobiles every day?

One user noted that this model would never fly in Europe.

But another user had a great suggestion for an additional feature.

There were some grumpy people online.

And a lot of predictions about the sales.

One user pointed out that had Pakistan established its own automobile industry, we could've had more affordable vehicles.

Because this van is the same thing we've been riding in for decades.

We aren't sure about you, but we aren't going to be rushing to buy a Bolan for Rs1.2 million just because it has an AC and neither will these Twitter users. What do you guys think about the new 'upgrade'?

While the Bolan is a relic from the past, what is depressing is that after 75 years we cannot manufacture and sell something as basic as a car in Pakistan!

If you want good car we should get rid of Japanese brands .. If we have to use outdated technology then should force these car makers to build them in the country regardless of how much investment they need to develop the infrastructure.

Kick Suzuki to the curb and maybe then they will learn their lesson. For 1.2 million this is nothing but greed and the thinking that Pakistanis don't know any better.

with PKR depreciating and inflation running rampant, what else can suzuki do to provide a van for 5+ passengers at such low price? This is approx. USD7300 - which is far cheaper than a good condition 10+ year old 5 pax sedan in USA/Canada.

Why an AC when they could have introduced a lahori cooler, that would be efficient. As long as people keep buying a piece of junk Suzuki will keep manufacturing. Their cars are safety hazard, they crumble up like a piece of paper during accidents.

@haider shaikh don't think airbag will make any difference when it does not have side impact bars. Also they should get rid of this hi roof version and bring out version that currently sells in India.
