Veteran actor Rashid Naz passes away at 73
Veteran actor Rashid Naz, who worked in a multitude of Pakistani films and television serials throughout his career, passed away at the age of 73 in Islamabad on Monday morning.
The actor's death was confirmed by his family. His daughter Madiha Rizvi posted the news on her Instagram account.
The actor had been suffering from health issues for a long time.
Naz's son Hasan Noman said the veteran actor had been suffering from several health issues for a long time and had been receiving treatment at a hospital in Islamabad where he passed away on Monday morning. The actor's body was brought to Peshawar for his funeral which was held today (Monday) at an eidgah on Charsadda Road. His funeral was attended by many members of the showbiz fraternity.
Naz was born in 1948 in Peshawar and began his career by acting in a Pashto drama in 1971. He rose to fame in 1973 through his stellar performance in the drama Aik Tha Gaoun. Apart from Pashto dramas, Naz also worked in Hindko and Urdu projects for television. The dramas he has acted in include Khuda Zameen Se Gaya Nahin, Inkaar, Ghulam Gardish, Doosra Asmaan and many more.
There has been an outpouring of grief online over the actor's demise. HUM TV's official Instagram shared a special post in remembrance of the veteran actor.
Celebrities Hira Mani, Mawra Hocane and Omair Rana also expressed their grief over the news.
"Such a wonderful happy soul," Hocane commented. "May Allah bless him to be amongst his closest ones."
Rana addressed Naz's family and wished them "ease from pain" in this difficult time.
Actor Yasir Hussain posted a tribute to Naz on Instagram.
Actor Mirza Gohar Rasheed posted a prayer for him on Instagram Stories.
PTI politician Abdul Aleem Khan also shared a few words in remembrance of the veteran actor.
Netizens offered prayers for the departed actor and condolences to his family.
