Pink offers to pay fine for Norwegian female handball team that refused to wear bikini bottoms

The team was heavily fined for "a breach of clothing regulations" which requires women to wear bikini bottoms while playing.

US pop singer Pink has offered to pay a fine given to the Norwegian female beach handball team for wearing shorts instead of the required bikini bottoms.

Pink said she was “very proud” of the team for protesting against the rule that prevented them from wearing shorts like their male counterparts.

In a tweet posted on Sunday, Pink said: “The European handball federation SHOULD BE FINED FOR SEXISM. Good on ya, ladies.” She added that “I’ll be happy to pay your fines for you. Keep it up.”

At the European Beach Handball Championships in Bulgaria last week, Norway’s female team was fined 1,500 Euros ($1,770) for what the European federation called improper clothing and “a breach of clothing regulations.” The rules stipulate that women must wear bikini bottoms while men wear shorts.

The Norwegian Handball Federation didn’t contest the decision, seen by the Norwegian team and several others as unfair, and announced earlier that it was ready to pay the fine.

I wonder if Pink would also pay the fine for a Muslim woman fined in France for wearing a hijab or burqa.

Definition of improper clothing has changed. By the way this violation is from Norway’s team which is not a conservative country at all.

Well done Pink. Please also explain secularism to those who sit typing on keyboards in the comfort of their call centres in Bangalore while claiming all who live in the west should mindlessly conform to sexualisation of sports.

@M. Emad Rules change. Where should these white Norwegians return to if they disagree with these rules?

The players were heavily fined. Because they were interested in size of clothes not in the game.

Next what swimming in burqa?, Figure skating in rugby gear? Hand ball started from beach and so there has to be a dress code.

It's a sick mind set that forces women to wear bikinis and banks them from covering their head.

Hello fellow Pakistani men, if you can’t protect your women , works will do it. Women all over the world are now standing up to injustice , in the name of religion, culture , and marketing . Women are no longer a breeding machines or tool of entertainment for chauvinistic men all over the world . I’m proud of my mother, sisters , wife, and daughters
