Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has a request for first-time producer Alia Bhatt
First day of school, first day at a new job or first time on the set of a film you are producing — nerves can get the better of anyone when entering unchartered territory. And critically acclaimed actor Alia Bhatt knows how it feels all too well.
"Day one of DARLINGS! My first film as a producer but I will always be an actor first & forever (in this case a very nervous actor)," Bhatt posted on her social media along with photos of her going through what appears to be the script.
"I don’t know what it is [...] a night before I start a new film, I get this nervous tingling energy all over my body ... I dream all night about messing up my lines ... become jumpy ... reach set 15 mins before time fearing I’ll be late!"
"I guess this feeling will never go away," the Gully Boy star continued, adding that it shouldn’t go away. "Because being nervous and feeling unsure means you really really care."
Her Dear Zindagi co-star Shah Rukh Khan replied to her on Twitter with a request and a promise: "After this production please sign me up for your next home production little one. I will come in time for the shoot and be very professional ... promise!"
And of course Bhatt replied as many would to a superstar asking to be a part of your next feature. "I could ask for nothing more ... done deal signed!" she wrote, sending love to her "favourite".
Now who wouldn't want such a vote of confidence from someone who is a legend in their industry. Of course, it helps that Khan is already involved in Bhatt's debut production venture.
According to The Indian Express, Darlings — a dark comedy about a mother-daughter duo — is co-produced by Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.
“I am really excited to be part of Darlings; it’s a powerful story with a lot of humour and doses of dark comedy. I am thrilled to have Darlings as my first film as producer, that too in collaboration with my favourite, Shah Rukh Khan and Red Chillies,” the actor-producer was quoted as saying when the teaser dropped in March.
The movie is set against the backdrop of a conservative lower middle-class neighbourhood in Mumbai, says The Indian Express article, and features a star-studded cast of actors that includes Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew.
The film’s teaser ends with a “statutory warning” that “offending women can be very dangerous for your health".
Suffice to say, this 'warning' has us intrigued.
