The people of Karachi stood in solidarity with the people of Palestine on Wednesday as they gathered outside the Karachi Press Club.

The protest was attended by thousands of people, including a number of well-known personalities.

Many spoke about ethnic cleansing, war crimes and the terrorism Israel was subjecting unarmed Palestinians to, marching for their freedom and right to a peaceful life in their homeland.

Their placards made a point.

Many celebrities, including Mahira Khan, Sanam Jung, Sheheryar Munawar and Anoushey Ashraf, joined the protest.

"We pray for the ones departed. We pray for the families suffering. We pray for this nightmare to end. We pray, protest and raise our voices for the world to sit up and to put enough pressure to stop this genocide," Ayesha Omar said at the protest.

Nadia Hussain claimed Israeli products should be banned. She also clarified that not every Jewish person was cruel and supportive of Zionism and oppression.

Activist and lawyer Jibran Nasir spoke about why protesting against the atrocities was both important and crucial for global media attention and support.

He also reminded a sensitive crowd why rape jokes were vile, violent and never acceptable, explaining his reasons for tearing up a protester's placard and reminding the boy why we needed to collectively do better.

"Some protesters at KPC today looked visibly disturbed watching me from a distance grab a poster, tear it apart and give an earful to the guy holding it. I support freedom of expression but there is no justification for a rape joke at any protest against any person/country/entity," he exclaimed.

Will this brouhaha undo the occupation and illegitimate formation of Israel while also letting the Palestinians claiming control over all their land?

I just do not understand what protests in Pakistan would achieve for the Palestinians. Pakistanis are always in the forefront if anything happens to any Muslim country. Do the Arabs care in the same way. No Arab country supported Pakistan on Kashmir. Pakistanis please look after the suffering of poor people in your own country. Work for children rights. Wipe out the corruption. Stop acting a guardians for the entire muslim world. Try to improve Pakistan's image which is at rock bottom

@Shadab Anwar - you are correct - unfortunately Pakistanis care about everything apart from their own country

Most muslims raise their voice only when the victims are muslims. Their outrage are also selective as it depends on the religion of the victims.
