Billie Eilish just broke an Instagram record in six minutes
Teenage sensation Billie Eilish broke the Instagram record for reaching one million likes with her blonde hair reveal, achieving the feat in just six minutes.
At the time this article was written, the Bad Guy singer’s picture stood at 19.5 million likes, which is the fourth highest for a picture on Instagram.
The post was captioned ‘pinch me’, and the 19-year-old singer posed with her all-new blonde hairdo. The look is really fresh for her and a significant departure from the signature green-fading-to-black hair she rocked previously.
The record-breaking picture followed a video where Eilish first revealed her new look. The video, with over 26 million views, was captioned ‘did you guess correctly?’
Eilish's picture sits just 300,000 likes behind the third most liked picture, which was posted by five-time-Ballon d'Or winning footballer Cristiano Ronaldo in remembrance of Argentina’s legendary hand-of-God scoring footballer the late Diego Maradona. Previously, the record for fastest to a million likes was held by Come and Get It singer Selena Gomez for a picture she posted on her 26th birthday in 2018.
And as it stands, the most liked picture on Instagram is of an egg, which is approaching 55 million likes.
Just this week, Eilish took home two Grammy awards for her new James Bond theme song — which she is the youngest ever to perform — No time to Die, and her 2020 hit single Everything I Wanted. She adds this to her already incredible Grammy collection, boasting seven wins and three nominations. Her Instagram post celebrating the victory stands approaching a humble 11 million likes in three days.
