Legendary musician and world renowned singer, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's hottest track Zaroori Tha has bagged a whopping 1 billion views on YouTube, courtesy of fans who still celebrate his iconic music from all across the globe.

Released on the music label Universal Music, the song, with its release 6 years ago, featured television's then renowned couple Gauhar Khan and Kushal Tandon, who rose to fame following their apperance on the reality TV show, Bigg Boss.

The video, elevated by Rahat's vocals, had initially crossed the 1 million views mark only 4 days after its release.

Recently, the Ustaad had encouraged his fans and followers to help him reach another milestone.

"My sincere thanks to everyone involved, specially you the audience, the listeners and my fans who have always given me so much love and affection. Let's get to this milestone of 1 billion together," he posted.

Produced by Salman Ahmed and directed by Rahul Sud, the music was by Sahir. A. Bagga while lyrics were penned down by Khalil-ur-Rehman.

Previously, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan accredited to his long list of achievements, was also the first Pakistani singer to bag 5 million subscribers on YouTube.

With a total of 207 videos uploaded, with the latest release Gham-e-Ashiqui crossing 3 million views, Khan celebrated the victory by expressing gratitude to his followers.

He began formally training for his skill at the age of seven, and has since released more than 50 albums including performing at numerous high-profile concerts across the world.

@johnpauljones , Singer may be of Pakistani origin, but without the Bollywood platform he would be an unknown entity only available to a limited audience in Pakistan.

@Iqbal Aswani What I meant is that all this credit is due to Indian contribution (other than voice)... Had Mehndi Hassan, Nusrat Saheb done the same, they would have broken many more records. Unfortunately, Pak doesn't respect and give due credit to its starts

Singer, writer and composers all are Pakistani... So stop fighting fellows... A diamond is a diamond irrespective of it's place same is with Rafi sb, Ahmed Rushdie, Kishore Kumar etc. Anyone can see the bad condition of Bollywood after takeover by RSS...
