Known for her extensive acting career from the 1970s to 1980s, veteran industry star Firdous Begum, passed away at 73, family sources revealed.

Begum was admitted to a hospital in Lahore on Tuesday due to a brain hemorrhage, where she breathed her last.

Her film career started with the movie Fanoos in 1963, where she was cast in the role of a supporting actor. Following, she acted in over 150 Punjabi, Urdu and Pashto films, receiving her big break through Heer Ranjha, where she shined in the adaptation of the namesake story by Sufi poet, Waris Shah.

However, it was her lead role in Malangi (1965) that strengthened her roots as an icon and legend in Lollywood, and where she met her first husband, lead actor Akmal Khan, who unfortunately passed away in June 1967.

Firdous Begum is survived by her three children, two sons and a daughter.

Poor reporting. Just a copy paste of earlier story after she was admitted to the hospital. Does not mention where she was born, how many films she acted in and how many languages, her accolades, her 2nd husband if any

Firdous was the real Heer. RIP. Her movie "Heer Ranjha"should be released on PTV for all people of our country specifically for new generation as an specimen what great movies we had made with such melodious songs by Noor Jehan and what a pretty actress who acted so great. I think Heer Ranjha movie will be liked more than Ertugal . Furthermore this is our ,our own culture .Real one. Without any politics. Dear Dawn, please publish my view as this is the only way,I can forward this wish to PTV.
