PTV to air another Turkish show after Ertuğrul on directives of PM Imran — this time about a Sufi poet

A trailer for the Urdu version of Yunus Emre: Aşkin Yolculuğu, titled Raah-e-Ishq, is already out.
Updated 23 Nov, 2020

Remember when in May PTI Senator Faisal Javed Khan announced that Prime Minister would like another Turkish show to be aired in Pakistan?

Well, it's official: Yunus Emre: Aşkin Yolculuğu will be aired on state-run PTV Home.

A trailer for the Urdu version, titled Raah-e-Ishq, is already out.

But no date has been confirmed as to when it will air.

The senator only tweeted that on the directions of PM Imran Khan, "yet another hit by Mehmet Bozdağ, Yunus Emre (Aşkin Yolculuğu), to be telecast on PTV".

Bozdağ is the screenwriter and producer behind Diriliş Ertuğrul, which has taken Pakistan by storm.

So who was Yunus Emre?

According to Turkish publication Daily Sabah, Yunus Emre was a great Turkish thinker and poet "who has been a leading light for humanity for centuries with his suggestions to adopt the values of patience, satisfaction, tolerance, generosity, goodness and virtue in line with the teachings of Islam".

The thinker, whose exact date of birth is unknown, lived in Anatolia from the mid-13th century to the first quarter of the 14th century, the publication said quoting sources.

Kamil Sarıtaş — an assistant professor at the Department of Islamic Philosophy, Faculty of Theology, at Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGU), and the head of Yunusemre Research Center — told Anadolu Agency that Yunus Emre is considered a spiritual doctor and was very influential in Sufism.

“He has always been the carrier of Islam's messages of faith, love, hope and justice that transcend time and space. Yunus Emre, who said ‘Whoever dies is the animal, the lover does not die’ continues to remain alive and keep people alive with his thoughts, even though it has been hundreds of years since he passed away,” said Sarıtaş.

Until PTV announces when the show will be aired, we're going to go look up more information on this new protagonist about to take over Pakistan's TV screens.

Are we Turkish or what?. Was that poet which we don't know anything greater than our own Allama Iqbal. why we don't make dramas on Allama Iqbal. We will be cocktail of different cultures at the end and will loose our own identity. we will be Indian AmericanTurkish British etc., but not Pakistani. Woe to Us.

If I am allowed to have my two pennies worth of say. The idea is to inspire the Muslims of Pakistan to do better. The certainly habe the potential. We have lost our way. At one time Iqbal inspired us. The deeds of past conquests inspired us. Hit we are now in the "love" drama syndrome created by all the channels. If our own channels do not pick up and recognise their responsibilities, someone else will fill up that gap. To the people who think this is a shame, the PM has not closed down the other hunderd channels. They can always use their fingers to move to another story.

@hussain your ignorance is monumental. Qawwali as a musical form and genre was invented by Hazrat Amir Khusro as everyone knows .
