Renowned singer Fida Hussain was laid to rest here on Saturday.

He had breathed his last on Friday after remaining hospitalised at Jinnah Hospital for about two weeks. He was suffering from multiple health issues. Funeral prayers for the deceased were held at Al-Rehman Gardens, Phase-II. The 68-year-old singer was trained by famous ghazal singer Ustad Ghulam Ali who taught him music for 12 to 14 years.

Fida Hussain had started his career from Radio Pakistan, Lahore and sang many songs and ghazals for radio and TV in a career spanning over about 50 years. His famous songs included 'Yar Mangya Si Rabba Tethoon Ro Kay' (remixed for Indian movie Kaante) and 'Saday Wal Mukhra Mor'.

In an online interview days before his death, he had sought official recognition and acknowledgment for his services by the government without asking for any monetary assistance.
