Television actor Sam Lloyd has passed away due to cancer. He was 56.

Lloyd had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and cancer which had spread to his lungs, jaw, liver and spine. According to reports, he had received the diagnosis just a few weeks after the birth of his first child.

Sam Lloyd was known for many works such as Seinfeld, Cougar Town and Malcolm in the Middle but his best known role was lawyer Ted Buckland in the iconic sitcom Scrubs. His a capella group The Blanks also made numerous appearances on the show.

Celebrities, including Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence, along with fans took to Twitter to remember the actor.
