Hrithik Roshan gives pep talk to Pakistani student on Twitter over his stutter

It's not something to be ashamed of, wrote the actor who has always openly spoken about his own speech impediment.
Updated 24 Feb, 2020

There are some things that transcend borders and boundaries, and human empathy is one of them.

Bollywood bigwig Hrithik Roshan offered words of support to a Pakistani student who was advised to leave his studies by a university professor who mocked his stuttering issue during class presentation.

"Please tell your cousin that that professor and his judgement both are irrelevant. Stuttering should never hold him back from dreaming BIG! Tell him it’s NOT his fault and it’s NOT something he needs to be ashamed of. People who shame him are no better than brainless monkeys," wrote Roshan.

The person who tweeted the incident shared that her cousin, who is currently enrolled in National University of Modern Sciences in Islamabad, is hesitant to take action, and has decided to take a break before resuming his studies.

We're appalled at the insensitivity and ignorance of the HOD, given his position at a reputable institution. About time teachers realise that their job is to encourage and mentor individuals, not mock and shame them for a disability they have no control over.

We extend all our support to the student and hope that he doesn't let this act of bullying hinder his journey to success!

Teacher should be ashamed of himself for dampening the spirit of his student.

I myself stuttered and was very much ashamed of it but my university professors were supportive of it. If Dawn can contact that student...Please tell him that meditation and yoga helps a lot in this ...As breathing control plays a big role in this. I am presently doing a well paying government job . So never be disappointed by this. I agree ...We can't do jobs which require presentation.

Stutter/Stammer is not an obstruction in progress unless you want to choose a professions like news reader or a political leader. HOD In his school is not aware of things. If someone stutters during medical, engineering or science presentation, it does not matter as far as the content is great. He can write poems or even sing.

That is the worst mindset which penetrates in our society and we need to get rid of it or else we will doomed, as in 10 years of my HR career, my bosses was always like that you need to look in to physical aspect more than person capabilities and competencies and that very thing is the result of such incidents that those whom got even a slightest issue like stuttering or don't have fair skin color or have premature baldness etc etc are taunt, shame.

Suffering from stammering myself, I have had first hand experience of being harassed by a professor of physiology in a university who checked my tongue and said, "I see there is nothing wrong here" despite knowing that stammering doesn't exhibit a physical sign.

salute from Pakistan, as you made this person day with your encouraging words. I also hope this lecturer should be sacked for such behavior as this has no room in the education world. Teacher should be empowering these students to reach for stars and he is not fit for this role. Remember, Karma, what goes around comes around.

Extremely disgusting on the part of the so called Professor, who doesn’t deserve the title. Having been a college teacher myself, I had long back a student in my class who used to stutter while speaking. All teachers in different subjects were known to encourage him to the best of their abilities inspite of the fact that he was too inquisitive. He has done extremely well in his academics and is currently working as a scientist in a Drug Research Laboratory. The authorities need to reprimand the teacher who has shamed his profession.

HOD does not deserve to be in this position and should immediately be demoted or even fired from his job. His job is to encourage students to learn and achieve high. This HOD is apparently not a teacher but an impostor holding this esteemed position which he clearly does not deserve.

So Many issues in our country yet our writers are only focusing on demoralizing woman! No society can progress unless and until we as a individual change our thought process. Change starts from the grass roots level then we can see the changes. Other than that, we will be discussing the same issues in the next century as well... I hope someone should take actions against this professor!
