Twitter slams Zartaj Gul for basically calling Lahore's smog fake news
Zaratj Gul is convinced India is to blame for Punjab's toxic smog problem.
Last week, the Minister for Climate Change had said that "80% of the pollution is caused by India whereas 20% is from our side", calling the air quality data being shared online and from public initiatives as inauthentic.
She also recently shared a satellite image from NASA "showing the state of mass crop burning on the adjoining Indian side."
"Check the scale of flagrant acts on Indian side, and how mitigated practice is on our end. We're going to continue taking up this issue on international forums," she wrote.
Except, as Norbert Almedia pointed out, the photo is actually from November 2018...
In fact, Wednesday night was Lahore’s worst, most hazardous smog recorded so far this year; people are concerned and fed up and rightly so! All public and private schools were closed on Thursday; this is the first time that smog has forced closure of schools.
The awkward moment when the Minister for Climate Change calls climate change fake news.
Same!
Doesn't make it any better.
Where is the lie though?
