Meghan Markle gets emotional about media scrutiny, mental health and motherhood
In a preview for an upcoming documentary about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s trip around Africa, titled Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, Meghan Markle gave a candid interview in which she addressed public scrutiny during and after her pregnancy and spoke about something most new moms can relate to.
A vulnerable and teary-eyed Markle said most people never asked her how she’s doing
“Look, any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable, and so that was made really challenging,” Meghan said and that “not many people have asked” that she’s OK. “But it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”
She also answered with a simple, “Yes,” when asked if it would be fair to say the past year has been a struggle, in the midst of constant scrutiny by the media, particularly the tabloid press.
Many called out the press and recalled what Princess Diana had been put through two decades earlier — and lauded Markle for her measured response.
