Hamza Firdous announces he'll no longer be working in Pakistan

The actor says he'll continue to work internationally, "but not here".

Actor Hamza Firdous announced on Wednesday night that he will no longer be working in Pakistan.

In a status posted on his Facebook profile and shared on his public page, Firdous said Malal E Yaar, Bin Badal Barsat and Janbaaz will be his last performances in Pakistan.

"I'll be working internationally, but not here [in Pakistan]," Firdous told Images, adding that he's signed an Irish project for which he'll be heading to Dublin.

The actor also announced that he'll be releasing a video shortly to discuss his decision in more detail.

Earlier this week, Firdous' father, veteran actor Firdous Jamal, criticised the current crop of screen actors, saying, "There is no best performer [in Pakistan]. They are all models, showpieces. They don't know that acting is something else. It's like a dummy at a store which people dress up for display."

Jamal has been heavily criticised for recent comments which seem to target actors, including Mahira Khan and Imran Ashraf.

Many an Indian actor once breaks into Hollywood rarely returns seems a natural progression rather than anything else.

While I highly highly respect Firdous Jamal and he is truly a better actor than all the current talent combined. But the recent incidents are a proof of exactly what we have lacked as a nation. Our elders rather than being mentors and becoming people that the younger generation looks up to, they become critics who are either insecure or are unwilling to accept the next generation gracefully. A complete lack of transition of knowledge from one generation to the next. As a result, the next generation has to come and learn all the processes the hard way all over again. And this non transfer of knowledge is causing us to be left behind from the rest of the world.

@Hammad this is not cricket, and these actors aren’t amateurs anymore. They make immense amounts of money, hence professional jealousy is always there. It’s a very cut throat environment
