Fatima Sohail and actor Mohsin Abbas Haider parted ways today after the Lahore Family Court approved Sohail’s request for khula and issued a decree to that effect.

Sohail and Haider — along with their lawyers — appeared in court before Judge Babar Nadeem, where Sohail stated that it was no longer possible for her to remain with her husband due to irreconcilable differences.

“I, too, no longer wish to remain with Fatima Sohail. We have no reservations; the court should issue the decree,” Haider testified in his statement.

The court issued the decree after taking statements from both sides.

In July, Sohail had alleged that she suffered domestic abuse at the hands of the actor. Sohail had posted on Facebook saying the incidents started from November last year when she claims she found Haider to be cheating on her. While fellows from the industry claim to be witnesses to the domestic abuse, Mohsin Abbas denies these allegations.

Domestic abuse and harassment of the females are big issues now. This Khula also ends the positive image of Mohsin Abbas, perhaps for good.

Pakistan is a male dominated society, so when women are physically abused the. Woman’s character is questionable? Mohsin has not felt any responsibility? He might have suffered few Job opportunities but he has never been charged , why ?

Husbands who use violence against wives of proven should go to jail. Divorce or Khula is not enough. That is between two people. This is not just a personal matter. This is a social issue which has caused pain and anguish to whole society. So I suggest local PMAs get together to pass legislation in provincial assembly and make it law. Make this chap an example and no one will dare hit someone’s daughter again.

Media industry is like this. Actors actresses are caught with the glitz and glamour. Behind the scenes it is a murkey world. Drugs, extra marital relations, alcohol, homosexuality is a norm. There are many hidden Mohsins in the media. Good that they parted ways.
