A documentary about Pakistan's first and only Nobel Laureate in Science, Dr Abdus Salam, will be on Netflix in October.

Salam — The First ****** Nobel Laureate, a feature-length film, has already won accolades on the international film festival circuit, including DFW South Asian Film Festival, South Asia Human Rights Festival, South Asian International Film Festival and the South Asian Film Festival of Montreal, among others.

When he won the Nobel prize in 1979, he became the very first Pakistani to achieve this distinction, and only the fourth from the subcontinent.

Read: Dr Abdus Salam’s biopic is a happy film... if you don't have a conscience

Born in 1926 in a remote village in Punjab, British India, Salam was a child prodigy. He came from humble beginnings, growing up in a small brick house with a large family of eleven. While Salam’s legacy looms large in the world of physics, he is largely forgotten in Pakistan because of his faith.

Salam — The First ****** Nobel Laureate will be available to stream on Netflix starting October 1st, 2019.

Well deserved recognition of the accomplishments of Dr. Abdus Salam. Where would the ungrateful nation of Pakistan be without his contributions to the country. Instead of honoring this gentleman, they have taken his name away from all text books because of his faith. Go figure. Result being that many in Pakistan don't learn about this true hero's achievements and that is a pity.

@Farooq Jawed "Result being that many in Pakistan don't learn about this true hero's achievements and that is a pity." Brother, that's not the only result. The other result of trying to eradicate his existence has been that Pakistan's space program is still more or less where it was back in the mid 70s. We mock Hindustan for their failed moon landing, and yet our own lack of scientific contributions, owing directly to our state's own disgusting bigotry, is nothing short of a tragedy.

Pakistanis have always been great at judging others. Never their fault syndrome. No conscience. Cant wait for Netflix to broadcast this show. Salute to this great scientist.

The only deserving tribute to this great man would be for Pakistan to finally recognize him as a Pakistani & a Muslim and be proud of him.

We must learn to respect and love anyone regardless of their religion, race and associations. Real Islam is to love all hate none. Different religious sects that we have must not spread hate and disharmony for their leaders to make their livings. We are proud of Dr. salam.

Only when one leaves Pakistan does one realise how twisted the mindsets have become in Pakistan. Right is wrong and wrong is right and every single things is about religion. Unfortunately I dont see Pakistaniz progressing for next 100 years if they dont separate religion and state. Dr Salam is the greatest mind ever to be produced in Pakistan but somehow he is a villain in Pakistani mind. How twisted is that.

We as a nation have some sort of inferiority complex, whether Dr. Salaam or Malala, we are trying to find some negative or conspiracy in everything. As someone said beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, we need to change our perspective and start looking things positively I am sure the world will be a good place to live. Religion is one connection with the divine and should be considered a personal matter, dragging it into all aspects of life creates conufsion

I have watched the documentary/movie Salam. It is a great effort in shedding light on the life and works of Dr. Salam. His work, love for Pakistan, the human side of a genius and the unfortunate treatment and lack of appreciation that we meted out to him. A must watch.

@Sajjad Iqbal Muslim part, nah.... But Pakistani, absolutely. He needs to be honored. The state shouldn't be deciding what people's religions are as that is a personal matter. This man could have been Jewish for all I care, but the things he did for the state shouldn't be forgotten or ignored.

Shunned by his own motherland; revered by the rest of the world. A true champion. In India, a similar Abdul Kalam rose to be its president; in Pakistan a greater Abdus Salam became a pariah.
